Adv. Raosaheb Shinde (1928–2015) was a freedom fighter, visionary educationist, and dedicated social reformer. From actively participating in the Quit India Movement to transforming rural education as Chairman of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, he devoted his life to nation-building. Honoured with over 15 national and state awards, his legacy lives on through the lives he uplifted and the values he championed. He firmly believed that education was the most powerful tool for social change. His relentless efforts brought educational opportunities to the most underserved communities. Today, institutions founded in his name continue to inspire generations toward excellence, integrity, and service.
About
Born on 10th June 1928, Adv. Raosaheb Shinde answered the nation’s call during the Quit India Movement of 1942, joining the Rashtra Seva Dal as a Shakha Nayak. At just 14, he stepped into the fire of India’s freedom struggle — fearless, determined, and deeply patriotic.
After Independence, his fight didn’t end — it simply changed direction. With a sharp legal mind (B.A., L.L.B.) and a compassionate heart, he chose to build the nation through education and social reform.
As Vice-Chairman (1978–2008) and later Chairman (2009–2015) of the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, he dedicated over three decades to empowering rural youth. He introduced a Digital Education Revolution in partnership with MKCL, Pune, and founded the Tata BPO CallCenter at RBNB College, Shrirampur,connecting education to employment in an unprecedented way. His leadership extended to roles such as President of the Indian Law Society, Bar Association of Shrirampur, and a Senate Member at Pune University.
His passion wasn’t limited to classrooms — it reached the poorest and the voiceless. He worked alongside Baba Amte at Anandvan, supported BAIF–MITRA, and actively contributed to Vinoba Bhave’s Gramin Pratishthan in Uruli Kanchan. For him, service meant standing with the people, always.
A prolific writer, his books — Charitra & Chyaritrya, Shikshan Ani Samaj, Dhyasparva, Bhavaleli Manase, and Prashna Aahe Mulyaancha — are mirrors of a soul shaped by service, values, and vision.

Founded in 2002 under the banner of Adv. Raosaheb Shinde Pratishthan, Vidyaniketan Academy Pre-Primary School (Balvatika) began its journey in a humble tin-roofed setting at Mahadev Mala, Shrirampur, with just four students and a vision for meaningful education. Despite limited resources, the school thrived on dedication, optimism, and a deep belief that every child is a genius in the making. Blending traditional values with modern teaching methods, we focus on holistic development—nurturing cognitive, social, emotional, and cultural growth.
